I am contacting you, at this time, to express my desire for employment at your school in a dual role of ministry or teaching as well as assisting you on your coaching staff. In high school I was honored to participate in the Arkansas All State game as a All State Defensive End and Tight End (2006). Following High School, I was recruited to attend the University of North Texas as an Outside Linebacker (2007). After one season, I transfered to pursue my desired degree while also playing Wide Receiver/ Free Safety at Tyler Junior College then East Texas Baptist University (2008-2011). I recently graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a major in Speech Communications and a minor in Biblical Studies. I have an additional 54 accredited Bible Studies hours from Berean School of the Bible. I also intend to get my Alternative Teaching Certification in the next year.
During my playing career, I was blessed to be able to learn and be mentored under great football coaches that have helped gift me to both know and be able to teach football. My dad is John Jenkins; He has coached over 35 years of major college and professional football. His most recognized position was University of Houston 1990-1992 head coach. Due to having my dad coach a high level of football, I grew up to learn under many professionals involved in football; Doug Flutie, George Cumby, Hershall Walker, Andre Ware, etc. Upon joining your coaching staff, I intend to learn more as well as help your athletic program win! By doing this, I will be 100% committed and loyal to your football system/ specific brand of football.
I believe that having me join your coaching staff would not only help benefit your program athletically but also spiritually. I am willing to be hired as a teacher or minister as long as I am coaching football. I have been heavily involved in ministry for 10 years. Associate Discipleship Pastor/ Worship Director (2010), Leadership Staff/ worship band (2008-2011), Director of Campus Bible Studies (2007-11), etc. I love people and I enjoy being able to minister to God's children. However, I believe that my talents are drawn to help all types of ministries but I have most experience in youth ministry, worship, evangelism and as a discipleship director.

On May 19, 2008, Head Football Coach and Athletic Director for Bay
Area Christian School, Marty Schumaker suffered a life threatening
head injury in a fall while working on his school’s football press box.
Air flighted to a Houston hospital, Marty, who is a former president
of the TAPPS Executive Board, was given little chance to live by the
doctors there. However, due to Marty’s unshakable faith in God and his
will to live, just five months after his accident, on September 24, 2008, he spoke to the Bay Area Christian students in a school assembly and attended the varsity football game that night. Marty’s testimony is that God gave him
a second chance in life in order to glorify Him!
Marty and his wife, Debra, have since moved to Frisco, Texas to be near
their daughter and their grandchildren. Marty’s health continues to improve
and he would like to return to coaching, however, that door has not been opened to him.
So Marty is looking for other ways to serve God and inspire young people
and coaches.
Marty would like to be able to share his testimony and is willing to travel
anywhere in Texas to speak to Christian schools about his life and experiences.
If you would like for your students to hear a great testimony of faith
and God’s healing power, please call
Marty Schumaker at
972-429-7343 or 281-728-5445. |
